Excaliber is pleased to announce the start of a new collaboration with Italian independent development studio Baryonyx Games, coinciding with the team’s debut on Steam with their first title, The Fortress.

In The Fortress, players take on the role of a prisoner of the monstrous Lich, captured and imprisoned for eternity within his fortress alongside other outcasts. Without a name, a past, or hope, the only goal left is to survive… and find a way to escape.

The game delivers a dungeon-crawler RPG experience strongly inspired by the classics of the genre. Each run is unique thanks to procedurally generated levels, making exploration unpredictable and constantly fresh. Players can choose from nine different classes, customizing their character with unique abilities, upgrades, and equipment. The dice-based combat system introduces an element of risk and strategy, turning every encounter into a tense and thrilling challenge. Throughout the adventure, players can also acquire hundreds of items, relics, and pieces of equipment that are essential to increasing their chances of survival within the fortress.

Excaliber is proud to have supported Baryonyx Games in the development and launch of The Fortress, published in collaboration with Stratos Gaming.

To further cement this collaboration, the Crazy ’n Dark RPG Bundle is now available, a special package that brings together The Fortress and The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles, a title developed by Fix-A-Bug and also supported by Excaliber. An unmissable opportunity for fans of great role-playing adventures to discover two Italian indie productions at a particularly attractive price.

And this is only the beginning: in the coming weeks, Excaliber will announce new collaborations with other independent studios, further pursuing its mission to champion and promote the talent of the indie game development scene.
