Starting today, submissions are open for the Global Indie Games Archive (GIGA), a new initiative promoted by Excaliber to showcase, highlight, and make indie productions developed all around the world more accessible.
GIGA was created with the goal of becoming the leading international archive dedicated to independent video games and their creators, who contribute every day to the growth of the global video game scene. The platform will be published in the coming days and will be freely accessible to everyone: not only developers, publishers, and press, but also fans and anyone simply curious to discover more.
The archive already includes hundreds of productions in its database, but in order to build a rich, up-to-date, and truly useful catalogue, Excaliber invites development studios to spontaneously submit information about their video games and teams through the dedicated submission forms.
Submissions are therefore open for both video games and development studios. Each team will be able to propose its own titles and, at the same time, share the main information about the studio, contributing to the creation of a detailed global map.
Participation in GIGA is completely free: adding game and studio data to the archive involves no cost. This choice was made to make the Global Indie Games Archive as inclusive as possible, while carrying forward Excaliber’s mission to support the independent video game industry. To allow GIGA to best highlight indie productions, Excaliber nevertheless reserves the right to evaluate every submission received and to include or exclude any games or studios that may not be deemed suitable for the nature, goals, or editorial standards of the project.
The structure behind GIGA represents a direct evolution of the one powering the Italian Video Games Database (IVGD): this will allow Excaliber to update the database very frequently, offering an increasingly broad and dynamic overview of international indie productions. To ensure greater consistency in the collection, verification, and consultation of information, GIGA will primarily take as reference indie titles that are available, or planned to be published, also on Steam, the leading video game store for the global market.
With the Global Indie Games Archive, Excaliber aims to offer a new space for discovery, connection, and visibility for the entire indie ecosystem, placing at its core the productions, teams, and stories that make the independent video game landscape so rich, varied, and constantly evolving.
Submissions for video games and development studios are now open, and the forms are available through the links indicated in the buttons below. Interested studios can submit their information through the dedicated forms and contribute right away to the growth of the Global Indie Games Archive.
